The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office, Pinellas Park Police Department, St. Petersburg Police Department and the Gulfport Police Department are hosting a two-week-long exciting and educational experience for the youth of Pinellas County. The academy offers our youth an insider’s look into how law enforcement perform their duties and their service to the community.

  • Communications
  • Ethics
  • Weapons Familiarizations
  • Building Searches
  • Traffic Stops Training
  • K-9 Demonstration
  • Defensive Tactics
  • Jail Tour
  • Officer Survival
  • Homicide Investigations
  • Domestic Violence Investigations

Requirements:

Open to young men and women between the ages of 14-18

  • Pass a background check
  • Enrolled and attending high school in Fall 2016
  • Complete the application and turn in by July 1st
  • Some of the training involves practical exercises and a waiver that must be signed
  • Cost $25 for academy
  • Lunch will only be provided on July 29th only– All other dates are the responsibility of the attendee
  • Youth will need transportation to the various sites to be announced
  • Sites will include local police departments and the Sheriff’s Office
