Twenty members of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 900 assisted with the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranch Open House in Safety Harbor on Saturday, March 6, 2010. Explorer Post 900 has been on hand for this annual event for many years providing direction to hundreds of guests. Post members conduct a parking detail and also assist with clean up at the end of the event.
Those in attendance had the opportunity to tour the individual residential facilities as well as the picturesque grounds. Guided tours were provided by the children residing at the “Ranch.” Guests were also invited to learn about different aspects of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office services. The Dive Team truck, a Sheriff’s helicopter, a vessel from the Marine Unit, and the armored vehicle known as the “Peace Keeper” were all available to see. Members were on hand from each of these sections, as well as, members from the Crime Prevention Unit, the Community Education and Programs Unit, and the Sheriff’s Volunteer program. A canine demonstration also took place following a musical program and complimentary lunch.
Thanks to the efforts of Explorer Post 900 and other Sheriff’s Office members, the 2010 Open House was a great success!
