Nineteen members of the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 900 participated in a Florida Association of Police Explorers Delegates meeting in Coral Springs on April 24-25, 2010.
On Saturday instructors provided classroom training on a response to a critical incident. The training involved the organization of an Incident Command Center and procedures regarding intra-jurisdictional communication and other coordination efforts. The afternoon events provided a variety of scenario based training opportunities. Explorers were expected to provide an impromptu press release, handle the complications of crowd control during and following the critical incident, and form an active shooter response team.
On Sunday, twelve members of Post 900 competed in a pistol match. Explorers Allyson Marquez, Haley Cornish, Jenna Deery, Miles Marinello, Garrett Silvers, and Robert Kries competed for the first time. Robert Kries received the 1st place trophy in the TYRO Division. Explorer Elias Karr placed 3rd in the Marksman Division, Explorer Keith Felsman placed 2nd and Nathan Mowatt placed 1st in the Sharpshooter Division, and Explorer Matthew Sauter received the Overall Match Championship trophy. The individual competition results were tremendous! In addition to the individual competition, Post 900 team members, Matthew Sauter, Keith Felsman, Nathan Mowatt, and Robert Kries received the 1st place team trophy as well. Great Job Post 900!
